Santa Tecla - Aguila 84-88 The most important game in the last round took place in Santa Tecla between third ranked Santa Tecla (14-4) and fourth ranked Aguila (12-5) on Tuesday night. Santa Tecla was defeated by Aguila in a tough game at home 84-88. Aguila outrebounded Santa Tecla 45-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Bryan Garcia (168-1997) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Kenny Wilson (-1993) chipped in 17 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Colombian Michaell Jackson (190-1987) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and Dominican guard Jose Liriano (189-1998) added 19 points and 9 rebounds respectively. They outrebounded Santa Ana 47-25 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. San Salvador players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Santa Ana's players. It was a good game for American center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field). Dominican forward Cristian Joan Duran (201-1996, college: Tenn Tech) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five San Salvador players scored in double figures. San Salvador's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spencer Grand replied with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Eder Paiz (179-2000) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Nejapa. Five Fantasmas and four Nejapa players scored in double figures. Fantasmas maintains sixth position with 7-11 record, which they share with Santiagueno. Nejapa lost eleventh consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with 13 games lost. Fantasmas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nejapa will play on the road against the league's leader San Salvador (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
